Accounting Manager, Cost Accountant
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations for a manufacturing company specializing in the design, fabrication, and maintenance of agricultural equipment, including conveyor systems. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and strong internal controls while supporting operational and production teams.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in manufacturing accounting, including job costing, inventory, WIP, and cost accounting, and can partner cross-functionally to drive financial accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll coordination, and month-end/year-end close
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures
Manufacturing & Cost Accounting
- Oversee job costing, cost of goods sold (COGS), inventory valuation, and WIP accounting
- Analyze labor, material, and overhead costs related to fabrication, installation, and maintenance projects
- Partner with operations and production teams to track project profitability and variances
- Support pricing, quoting, and margin analysis for custom-built equipment
Inventory & Fixed Assets
- Manage inventory accounting, including raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
- Conduct and reconcile physical inventory counts and cycle counts
- Oversee fixed asset accounting, depreciation, and capital expenditures
Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting
- Assist with annual budgets and rolling forecasts
- Prepare financial analysis, variance reports, and management dashboards
- Provide insights to leadership to support operational and strategic decision-making
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff (if applicable)
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project management teams
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, job costing, inventory, and WIP
- Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., Net Suite, SAP, Epicor, Sage, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills
Preferred
- CPA or CMA certification
- Experience in agricultural equipment, heavy equipment, or custom manufacturing
