Job Description

Position Summary: Responsible for the safe off‑loading of Major Component Assemblies (MCA) from sea and road transport jigs onto Final Assembly Line (FAL) transportation trolleys and the delivery of MCAs to the Final Assembly Line stations in accordance with the planning schedule. Safe operations of overhead cranes with lifting capacities ranging from 6.5 tons to 50 tons, all with multiple lifting configurations.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Crane Operations (60%):
    Overhead crane operations in the Transshipment hangar, A320 Final Assembly Line, Final Phase hangars, and A220 FAL to receive and deliver the major aircraft components utilizing a variety of overhead crane configurations and lifting devices.
  • Aircraft Towing (20%):
    Operating heavy aircraft tow tugs for the movement of aircraft into and out of various hangars in support of pre‑Final Operational Testing. Ensuring aircraft system readiness and proper configuration during towing operations, cargo loading, aircraft mooring, electrical power connections, ventilation for air supply, and cabin access all in accordance with the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM). Includes MAA AOA training.
  • Logistics / Site Services (15%):
    Coordinating logistical support for cannibalization, reallocation, out of sequence requests of aircraft materials, and the return of sea transport jigs. Operation of heavy equipment to load/unload shipping containers of MCAs using a 30 k forklift. Operation of heavy equipment to support unloading of MCAs from sea jigs at heights of 20–30 ft using an articulating man lift or scissor lifts.
  • Fueling activities for ground support equipment (GSE) using portable fuel tanks.
  • Completion of Documentation / Training (5%):
    Adherence to various policies regarding accurate recording of completed work and work‑in‑progress by using daily job cards to record activities. Notifies affected parties when clerical errors are discovered or documentation is incomplete. Uses SOIs to perform each task assigned and documents any discrepancies. Maintains accurate and up‑to‑date training records of EHS, SAP. Ensures required daily pre‑operational inspections of GSE are completed.

Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience
  • 3 years of experience working with overhead cranes.
  • 3+ years of experience working in aviation ramp operations.
  • 3+ years experience working with heavy equipment.
Communication Skills
  • Proficient in English (read, write and effectively communicate).
  • Eligibility:
    Authorized to Work in the US, Ability to Obtain a Passport/Visa (required).
Physical Requirements
  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size.
  • Equipment Operation:
    Able to operate a wide range of tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and arms.
  • Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 70 lb (31.7 kg) while engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
  • Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 30 lb (14 kg).
  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas and on the shop floor.
  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items.
  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods delivering information.
  • Travel/Mobility: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time and on short notice.
