Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent, six years of experience driving a passenger bus, one year in a supervisory capacity, possession of a valid commercial driver's license with a 24+ passenger endorsement and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage with the University of South Alabama, satisfactory completion of a drug/alcohol screening prior to employment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with driving athletic teams, public transportation, or large passenger vehicles is highly preferred.
Job Description
Summary:
The University of South Alabama's Transportation department is seeking to hire a Transportation Supervisor. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
- Provides supervision to all bus drivers and shuttle drivers for USA Main Campus and USA Health.
- Ensures schedule adherence on selected routes daily.
- Evaluates driver performance as needed.
- Responds to emergencies, investigates accidents, and completes all necessary forms.
- Checks detours on bus routes and recommends schedule changes.
- Supervises USA Health shuttle drivers and campus route drivers, as well as charter bus drivers including approving time off, signing timesheets, preparing evaluations, handling disciplinary issues, and assigning work.
- Ensures all transit vehicles are clean as set by policy determined by management.
- Assists in addressing customer complaints and service requests.
- Dispatches and facilitates drivers in route assignments and prepares daily schedule for drives using a PC.
- Facilitates monthly training for bus drivers.
- Ensures compliance with safety regulations.
- Serves as a backup and relief driver as needed.
- Prepares reports using a PC and calculator.
- Maintains regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
- Related duties as required.
