Heavy Handling Technician (Contract) – Airbus U.S. Manufacturing, Mobile, AL
Airbus is looking for an experienced Heavy Handling Technician to join our Ground Support Team in Mobile, AL. This contract position focuses on the safe off-loading of Major Component Assemblies (MCA) and the coordination of heavy equipment during aircraft assembly operations.
Responsibilities- Operate overhead cranes (6.5‑50 tons) to lift and transfer MCAs from sea/road jigs onto Final Assembly Line (FAL) transport trolleys and deliver MCAs to FAL stations according to the planning schedule.
- Perform safe overhead crane operations in the Tran shipment hangar, A320 and A220 final assembly lines, and other specified areas.
- Operate heavy aircraft tow tugs and support the movement of aircraft into and out of hangars for pre‑Final Operational Testing.
- Ensure aircraft system readiness and proper configuration of towing operations, cargo loading, mooring, electrical power, ventilation, and cabin access as per the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM).
- Coordinate logistical support for cannibalization, reallocation, out‑of‑sequence requests, and the return of sea transport jigs.
