Job Summary
The Marine Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems on vessels undergoing repair or conversion at Alabama Shipyard. This includes working with power distribution systems, lighting, navigation equipment, and auxiliary systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Key Responsibilities- Installation and Repair: Install and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment on ships.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose electrical issues and perform corrective actions.
- Testing: Conduct tests on electrical systems to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.
- Compliance: Follow all safety regulations, including OSHA and maritime electrical codes.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other trades (mechanical, welding, etc.) to complete projects on time.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in electrical systems preferred.
- Experience: 3+ years as a marine or industrial electrician.
- Skills: Ability to read blueprints and schematics; proficiency with electrical tools and testing equipment.
- Certifications: TWIC card required; knowledge of ABS and USCG standards is a plus.
