We’re seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Generator Technician to support our Mobile, Alabama territory. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the field, enjoys solving complex technical problems, and values customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with the Service Manager to plan efficient work and travel schedules, prioritizing customer needs and equipment availability.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions; repair or replace defective components and install new assemblies to restore optimal performance.
- Perform on-site repairs, bringing necessary tools, parts, and arranging facilities as needed.
- Conduct inspections and functional tests during equipment delivery, scheduled maintenance, and post-repair to ensure reliability.
- Maintain accurate service records including customer details, equipment issues, time logs, mileage, and parts used for proper billing and reporting.
- Execute preventive maintenance on generator sets, including fluid/filter changes, system inspections, and load bank testing.
- Test and service automatic transfer switches and complete all required documentation and checklists.
- Continuously improve technical skills through company-sponsored training, technical literature, and collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Uphold company image through professional appearance and maintaining a clean, organized service vehicle.
- Serve as a technical resource for complex troubleshooting and mentor junior technicians when needed.
- Ability to stoop, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient with multimeters and other diagnostic tools.
- Must own a complete set of tools.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to work independently on customer sites.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; must be insurable and able to obtain at least a Class D license.
- Willingness to travel and stay overnight occasionally.
- Availability for 24/7 on-call rotation as needed.
