Position Description
We are hiring a Permanent Full‑Time Experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Mobile, Alabama.
Pay & Benefits- Hourly Pay: $25.10 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700 total
- Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 each quarter (four times per year)
- Sign‑On Bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
- Schedule: Monday–Friday; weekends off
- Hours: First shift 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
- Annual merit pay increases

- Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs
- Conduct standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections
- Carry out preventive maintenance
- Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
- Identify root causes of basic failures and perform required repairs
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints
- Use shop management systems and electronic documentation
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Perform other support duties as required, including service island support
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or technical certification; post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and experience in automotive gas or diesel engine repair, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Two (2) years or more of classroom training and work experience, preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred; must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire if not already holding one
- Must pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background and motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
