Responsibilities

An SP+ Cashier will create an efficient, stress‑free, and enjoyable experience for each customer. Primary duties include receiving payment for parking services and facilitating traffic flow by:

  • Treat each customer with respect and kindness, ensuring each interaction delivers on the SP+ Promise of making every moment matter.
  • Be present at work each scheduled day, on time, in uniform, and ready to assist customers.
  • Count the “bank” of revenue at the beginning of a shift to ensure the starting total is correct.
  • Collect cash and/or validations and maintain the security of cash.
  • Makes change and issues receipts or tickets for each transaction.
  • Compute or recompute bill from ticket showing amount due per customer.
  • Operate cash register after time calculation (manually or by machine), calculate cost and display the customer transaction cost on the cash register.
  • Quote prices for parking services for which money is received upon customer receipt.
  • Give directions to city locations and assist customers, ensuring they get where they are going easily and efficiently.
  • Complete lost ticket forms when original tickets cannot be located.
  • Resolve customer complaints quickly and efficiently, asking a supervisor for assistance when needed.
  • Answer telephone in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness of booth and pick up trash in the surrounding area.
  • Conduct timely checks to confirm a proper inventory of necessary work aids and supplies are located in the booth.
  • Verify log of shift transactions against the bank of revenue on hand.
  • Compile the bank of collected revenue during the day once a predetermined amount of money has been collected.
  • Record amounts received, cars in/out of facility, and cars left in a facility (if applicable) while preparing shift report of transactions.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Less than high school education or up to one month related experience or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Availability to Work

Special shift requirements may vary depending on a location's hiring needs. Availability for 2nd shift, 3rd shift, and/or week‑ends may be required.

License Requirement

The individual will only be required to have and maintain a valid state‑issued driver’s license, with a current address and acceptable driving record, if the individual is expected to drive a company vehicle or company business.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to make change.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one‑on‑one and in small groups to customers, clients, supervisors, and other employees.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but standard written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other

Skills and Abilities

Ability to use a clock (standard/military time), calculator (optional), or credit card machine to handle transactions. Ability to maintain a pleasant and mannerly demeanor when speaking on the telephone and with the public. Ability to effectively respond to customer problems or complaints.
