Registered Nurse; RN; PRN- Emergency Department​/Trauma Center - University Hospital

Various Shifts Available

Practice family-centered nursing according to policies and the Nurse Practice Act; serve as Charge Nurse when assigned; supervise, plan, evaluate, and coordinate patient care provided by licensed and non-licensed staff; demonstrate CPR according to American Heart Association standards; abide by and enforce all compliance requirements and policies ethically, consistent with the organization’s values; adhere to hospital policies including confidentiality; serve as preceptor for new employees and nursing students;

utilize the nursing process to assess patients, plan individual care, identify expected outcomes, implement and evaluate nursing interventions; perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures; administer medications, including controlled substances and blood products; respond to emergency situations; perform basic life support and manage arrests; start IVs; perform activities of daily living; state the purpose, rationale, precautions, and observations for skilled procedures; utilize proper body mechanics;

provide patient education; access the Clinical Information System; communicate effectively with physicians, patients, families, and healthcare team; respond to overhead pages; complete required documentation and assessments; supervise and evaluate patient care records; transcribe physician orders; meet mandatory educational and hospital requirements; utilize cost-effective practices; adhere to infection control and safety standards; provide competent care to diverse patient populations; care for all types of CVLs including PICC/Midlines;

maintain knowledge of policies, procedures, equipment, and supplies; ensure proper documentation and charges; complete required certifications within specified time frames; administer and monitor conscious sedation; organize and direct resources to meet patient and staff needs; communicate with management about unit status and issues; act as first line in problem resolution; assist with shift assignments; verify emergency equipment functionality; ensure narcotic and drug counts are completed;

participate in committees and Performance Improvement activities; maintain medical records; demonstrate regular attendance and schedule flexibility; perform related duties as required.

Graduation from an accredited nursing school and a current Alabama RN license or a Multi-State RN License in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for Alabama.
