Responsibilities

VARIOUS SHIFTS AVAILABLE

NEW, STATE-OF-THE-ART UNIT

Provide family-centered nursing care in accordance with policies and the Nurse Practice Act. Serve as Charge Nurse when assigned, supervising and coordinating patient care provided by licensed and non-licensed staff. Use the nursing process to assess patients, plan individualized care, and evaluate nursing interventions. Perform direct patient care, including therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, medication administration (including controlled substances), blood transfusions, starting IVs, and basic life support.

Respond appropriately to emergency situations and manage cardiac/respiratory arrests. Educate patients and families, coordinate care, and communicate effectively with the healthcare team. Maintain accurate medical records, transcribe physician orders, and adhere to infection control and safety standards. Demonstrate competence in caring for Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric patients. Participate in hourly rounds and serve as a preceptor for new staff and students.

As Charge Nurse, organize resources and communicate with management regarding unit status and issues. Ensure emergency equipment is functional, and participate in quality improvement activities. Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with hospital policies. Attend mandatory training and work scheduled shifts, including overtime as needed.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited nursing program and a current Alabama RN license or Multi-State RN License under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
