Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Machine Shop Manager to oversee daily operations in our precision machining department. This position requires strong hands‑on experience with both CNC and conventional machines
, as well as proven leadership in managing machinists and production workflow in a job‑shop or repair environment
.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience as a Shop Foreman, Leadman, or Shop Manager
, with the ability to coordinate machining operations, train and mentor team members, ensure quality standards are met, and maintain a safe, efficient work environment. This is a hands‑on leadership role — the right candidate will be equally comfortable on the shop floor and in managing day‑to‑day production needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate daily machining operations across CNC and conventional equipment.
  • Lead, train, and support machinists to ensure production goals, quality standards, and deadlines are met.
  • Operate and oversee manual and CNC lathes, mills, and VTLs for precision machining and repair of industrial components.
  • Review work orders, assign jobs, and balance workloads across personnel and machines.
  • Interpret and verify blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications.
  • Perform setup, troubleshooting, and process optimization for both manual and CNC machines.
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring tools to ensure adherence to specifications and tolerances.
  • Coordinate with other departments (welding, assembly, quality, etc.) to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Enforce safety and housekeeping standards, ensuring compliance with company and OSHA regulations.
  • Participate in hiring, training, performance evaluations, and team development.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, safety, and quality.
Requirements:
  • Hands‑on experience with both CNC and conventional machining equipment (required).
  • Minimum 5–7 years of machining experience in a manufacturing, repair, or job‑shop environment.
  • Prior experience as a Shop Foreman, Leadman, or Shop Manager (required).
  • Strong knowledge of machining operations, tooling, feeds/speeds, and setup methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, drawings, and GD&T.
  • Skilled in machining large or high‑precision components.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and manage multiple jobs in a high‑mix environment.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, crane operation, and general shop maintenance.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience leading a team in a rotating equipment repair
    , industrial machinery
    , or heavy equipment setting.
  • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing
    , 5S
    , or other continuous improvement methods.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to mentor others in machining best practices.
  • Proven track record of improving production efficiency and maintaining high quality standards.
