Job Description

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for an Manufacturing and Maintenance Technician to join our Manufacturing team based in Mobile, AL
.

The Manufacturing and Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing technical and mechanical support to the back shop and production line. The technician will set, repair and implement Automatic Drilling Units in collaboration with production needs.

The Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility is located on 'Airbus Way' at the Mobile Aeroplex ned in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019.

Skill Bridge Eligibility
  • Active-duty service member within 180 days of separation.
  • Written Commander (O‑4 or above) authorization.
  • Must have current work authorization for U.S. positions.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Set‑up and implement equipment for the Back Shop and Production in Final Assembly Lines.
  • Oversee the qualification of ADUs (Automated Drilling Units) and support their entry into service at the supplier site: FAL‑USA.
  • Adjust ADUs, cutting tools and drilling templates.
  • Maintain and repair ADUs.
  • Provide limited instruction to employees using equipment for the first time.
  • Support the Head of Back Shops and the production line in technical problem solving regarding ADUs, cutting tools, drilling templates and test equipment.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the mechanical work performed in the FAL Back Shop.
  • Maintain a high level of skills and be perceived as an authority on ADU maintenance and adjustment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education
  • High School Diploma, GED or an equivalent combination of training/experience.
  • Ability to successfully complete the following trainings provided by Airbus after recruitment:
    • Health & Safety
    • General aircraft familiarization
    • Quality trainings
Preferred
  • Training from a vocational school, military training or previous employer in the use of application tools and application techniques.
Required Experience
  • 2 years minimum hands‑on experience in the maintenance of industrial equipment, ADUs, drilling templates, cutting tools or test equipment.
Preferred Experience
  • 5+ years minimum hands‑on experience in the maintenance of industrial equipment, ADUs, drilling templates, cutting tools and test equipment.
Physical Requirements
  • Vision adequate to read material on computer screens.
  • Hearing sufficient for conversation and safety alerts.
  • Speaking ability for in‑person and electronic communication.
  • Equipment operation, able to work on jigs at 15‑ft height and hydraulic lifts up to 40‑ft height.
  • Confined‑space work, able to enter a 12"×22" passage and work through a 9.7"×17.7" opening while wearing a respirator.
  • Carrying up to 55 lbs (25 kg) occasionally.
  • Lifting up to 55 lbs (25 kg) occasionally.
  • Pushing/Pulling items in office areas.
  • Sitting for extended periods.
  • Squatting/Kneeling to retrieve items on bottom shelves occasionally.
  • Standing for extended periods while delivering information.
  • Traveling overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods.
  • Walking through office and production areas, around flight lines and airstrips, including uneven surfaces.
