Job Description

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for an Aircraft Structures Assembler to join our Manufacturing department based in Mobile, AL.

Responsible for the structural installation of parts and major components in the manufacturing of the aircraft within the assigned station area.

Your working environment

Nearby on "Airbus Way" you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry and is part of Airbus  strategy to meet growing customer needs in the United States and beyond.

Your

challenges
  • Perform repair work (concessions/discrepancies).
  • Positioning and assembly of components.
  • Rework of external skin damage of the aircraft.
  • Work in compliance with production orders, design documents, concessions and inspection procedures.
  • Prepare and solve queries, ensure follow-up and give feedback.
  • Examine and sort work orders and drawings.
  • Prepare job station for daily activity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Your boarding pass
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • The ability to successfully complete the trainings provided by Airbus after recruitment:
    Health & Safety, General aircraft familiarization, Quality Training.
  • Preferred:
    Training from a vocational school or previous employer in the use of application tools and techniques.
  • Completion of a technology Certification of Training program from a post-secondary institution or a previous employer and documentation of the same.
  • Required experience:

    2 years minimum in Aviation Production or equivalent (e.g., Shipbuilding, Heavy Machinery, Automotive Manufacturing, Military Aviation, MRO).
  • Hands-on experience with drilling tools, templates, drilling machines, fasteners, and torqueing tools.
  • Preferred: 5+ years minimum in Aviation Production or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of station safety, quality (FOD) and OSHA regulations.
  • Blueprint Reading: ability to build from engineering drawings or schematics.
  • Precision Measurement: calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and dial indicators.
  • Torque Specifications: bolts tightened to specified values.
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): following written instructions without deviation.
  • Documentation: signing off on work and logging parts or lot numbers for quality control.
  • Sheet Metal Fabricator: cutting, bending, riveting, and deburring metal.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to use computer systems (SAP and Excel knowledge required).
Physical Requirements
  • Vision: able to read computer screens, documents and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations and hear safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: able to communicate clearly in conversations and meetings.
  • Equipment Operation: able to operate office equipment and production tools (e.g., hydraulic lifts).
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, or equipment up to 30 lbs / 14 kg.
  • Lifting: able to lift up to 30 lbs / 14 kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push and pull small items and equipment.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to access items.
  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods.
  • Travel: able to travel domestically and internationally for extended periods and on short notice.
  • Walking: able to move through office and production areas, flight lines and uneven surfaces.
