Position: Aircraft Structures Assembler (Multiple Shifts)

Overview

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for an Aircraft Structures Assembler to join our Manufacturing department based in Mobile, AL. Responsible for the structural installation of parts and major components in the manufacturing of the aircraft within the assigned station area.

Your working environment

Nearby on ‘Airbus Way’ you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry and is part of Airbus’ strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Your

challenges
  • Perform repair work (concessions/discrepancies).
  • Positioning and assembly of components.
  • Rework of external skin damage of the aircraft.
  • Work in compliance with production orders, design documents, concessions and inspection procedures.
  • Prepare and solve queries, ensure follow-up and give feedback.
  • Examine and sort work orders and drawings.
  • Prepare job station for daily activity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Your boarding pass
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • The ability to successfully complete the following trainings provided by Airbus after recruitment:
  • Health & Safety
  • General aircraft familiarization
  • Quality Training
  • Preferred:
    Training from a vocational school or previous employer in the use of application tools and in application techniques.
  • Completion of a technology Certification of Training program from a post-secondary institution or a previous employer and documentation of the same.
  • Required experience:

    2 years minimum experience in Aviation Production or equivalent (e.g., Shipbuilding, Heavy Machinery, Automotive Manufacturing, Military Aviation, MRO).
  • Previous hands-on experience with drilling tools, templates, drilling machines, fasteners, and torqueing tools.
  • Preferred: 5+ years minimum experience in Aviation Production or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of station safety, quality (clean as you go/FOD) and OSHA regulations.
  • Blueprint Reading:
    Ability to build a product by reading a complex engineering drawing or schematic.
  • Precision Measurement: proficiency with calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and dial indicators.
  • Torque Specifications: bolts must be tightened to a specific number (e.g., "torqued to 50 in-lbs.") rather than just "hand tight."
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): ability to follow a written "recipe" for assembly without deviation.
  • Documentation: experience signing off on your work, logging parts, or tracking lot numbers for quality control.
  • Sheet Metal Fabricator:
    Cutting, bending, riveting, and deburring metal.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to enter, generate and retrieve information using a computer (SAP and Excel knowledge required).
Physical requirements
  • Vision: able to read computer screens, documents and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations and hear safety warnings or alarms on the production floor.
  • Speaking: able to communicate in conversations and meetings.
  • Equipment operation: able to operate office equipment and production tools including hydraulic lifts.
  • Carrying/Lifting: able to carry and lift up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and equipment.
  • Sitting/Squatting/Kneeling/Standing: able to sit, squat or kneel as needed and stand for extended periods.
  • Travel: able to travel overseas and domestically, sometimes for extended periods and on short notice, and work outside hangers in changing locations.
  • Walking: able to move through office and production areas and uneven surfaces.
