Job Summary

The Managing Director of Chain Department will provide Leadership, Direction and Strategy for Gulf Distributing Holdings Company – Chains Department as well as plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee all activities associated with the organization’s relationship with all Chain accounts. This position will focus on corporate-level engagement while overseeing the development and management of a chain team.

Relationship Management
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with chain accounts at the corporate level.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for chain account executives and decision‑makers.
  • Ensure alignment of company goals with the needs of chain partners.
Sales Strategy Development
  • Develop and implement strategic sales initiatives to enhance the company's presence within chain accounts.
  • Analyze market trends and customer needs to identify new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create effective promotional strategies.
  • Complete all brewery surveys and financial benchmarking requests.
  • Conduct market rides with suppliers, provide recaps with an agreed upon plan of action.
  • Conduct Sales Team work/withs and training, recap to be provided for these sessions.
  • Execute against Monthly Business Objective.
Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of sales professionals, focusing on individual growth and performance.
  • Implement training programs for staff to enhance skills in relationship building and brand development.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Operational Oversight
  • Monitor sales performance metrics and provide regular reports to executive leadership.
  • Optimize processes and procedures to improve efficiency within the Chains Department.
  • Address any operational challenges related to chain account management.
Budgeting And Cost Control
  • Develop annual revenue plan to support the budgeting process.
  • Provide monthly updates on budget status, expenditure and asset listings to Senior Management.
Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the operations function.
  • Identify training needs and ensure proper training is developed and provided.
  • Willingly complete other duties assigned to meet the strategic, operational and financial objectives of GDH.
Supervision
  • Direct the daily workflow of the Chain Department.
  • Use strengths‑based management so each person supervised can apply his/her strengths in day‑to‑day work.
  • Ensure that each employee supervised has opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • Provide clear expectations for each supervised staff.
  • Model adherence to GDH’s values and hold staff accountable for knowing and practicing them.
  • Complete coaching regularly of supervised staff and annual performance evaluation on due date.
  • Provide direct supervision to the General Managers and other operations managers.
Learning Organization and Staff Training
  • Actively participate in internal and external training opportunities.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm for learning and personal growth.
Community Partnership
  • Represent GDH values and follow GDH values within the community at all times.
Technology
  • Effectively use office equipment (copiers, fax machines, scanners), a personal computer and Microsoft Office products:
    Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Explorer.
  • Efficiently use operations management software, including VIP.
Qualifications
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, engineering, or another industry‑related field required; MBA preferred.
  • At least 10 years of industry‑related experience including three years in upper management required.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with transportation management software. Prior use of VIP or similar software package.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented.
  • Access to reliable transportation. If driving an automobile while on company business, must possess a valid driver’s license in your state of residence and auto insurance. Must be able to pass a background check, MVR, and drug screen.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
  • Work effectively with internal and external individuals, including other professionals in the community.
  • Work effectively as a member of the leadership team.
  • Effectively communicate to various internal and external audiences in person and through various electronic media.
  • Manage time and work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
