The Manager, Compensation is responsible for the administration and operational oversight of USA Health’s compensation programs. This role ensures accurate job classification, equitable pay practices, and compliance with federal and state regulations while maintaining alignment with the organization’s compensation philosophy. The position supports leaders and HR partners through data-driven analysis, market benchmarking, and guidance on pay decisions. The Manager, Compensation also oversees compensation processes, including salary administration, incentive programs, and personnel action workflows.
- Administers and maintains USA Health’s compensation programs, pay structures, and salary administration processes in alignment with the organization’s compensation philosophy.
- Conducts job evaluations for new and revised positions to ensure proper classification and appropriate pay placement within established structures.
- Reviews and analyzes compensation data to determine competitive wage rates and recommends adjustments as needed to maintain market competitiveness and internal equity.
- Manages the day-to-day operations of compensation programs, including compensation review cycles, salary adjustments, policy implementation, and related communications.
- Provides guidance and support to managers and HR partners on compensation policies, pay decisions, promotions, reclassifications, and incentive strategies.
- Meets with managers and operational leaders as needed to assess compensation needs and provide practical solutions.
- Participates in compensation surveys and analyzes market data to support pay recommendations and structure updates.
- Collaborates with Finance, Payroll, and other departments to coordinate compensation-related actions and assess operational and financial impacts.
- Oversees the personnel action form (PAF) process, reviewing and approving actions in accordance with established procedures and payroll deadlines.
- Supervises and supports a team of compensation specialists, providing oversight in areas such as classification reviews, requisition support, equity adjustments, and market analyses.
- Monitors compliance with federal and state compensation laws and regulations and ensures pay practices remain compliant.
- Prepares spreadsheets and manipulates data, requiring a high level of expertise using Excel.
- Ensures confidentiality of employee information.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
- Related duties as required.
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and six years of professional human resources experience or three years of directly related compensation management experience. Experience in a managerial/supervisory capacity and experience in a healthcare setting are preferred. A master’s degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.
