HR Generalist

A local company in Mobile, Alabama is looking for a full-time HR Generalist to join their team. The Human Resources Generalist performs and manages all HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, legal counsel, benefits administration, performance management, and fostering a positive workplace and culture. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and should work with all levels of employees.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain and implement HR policies, procedures, and initiatives aligned with company goals
  • Administer benefits including open enrollment, benefit reconciliations, payroll related functions in collaboration with Accounting Department
  • Maintain performance review process, including evaluations, coaching, and career development
  • Maintain employee and HR records
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HR-related inquiries
  • Lead onboarding, offboarding, immigration processes, and Visa assistance for overseas employees
  • Manage employee relations including conflict resolution, investigations, and disciplinary actions
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws, and company policies along with related reporting
  • Annual non-discrimination testing for 401(k) and FSA plans and other benefit compliance
  • Workers’ compensation management which includes investigations, prevention, first reports, management and record keeping of employees’ physician visits. Work closely with the safety director to ensure compliance with OSHA standards
  • FMLA management including eligibility, tracking, return to work follow-ups, and benefit payments
  • Assist with recruitment and retention strategies
  • Create and maintain job descriptions
  • Maintain HR systems with accurate and up-to-date information
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of human resources, compliance, and/or payroll experience
  • SHRM certification
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, etc.)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and payroll software
  • Experience in employee counseling on performance issues
  • Experience in multi-state HR Management preferred
  • Background in maintaining HR policies preferred
  • Experience with workers’ compensation and OSHA standards preferred
Compensation & Benefits
  • For this position, you will be paid $60-85k/year
  • Direct Hire position
