HR Generalist
A local company in Mobile, Alabama is looking for a full-time HR Generalist to join their team. The Human Resources Generalist performs and manages all HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, legal counsel, benefits administration, performance management, and fostering a positive workplace and culture. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and should work with all levels of employees.
Job Responsibilities- Maintain and implement HR policies, procedures, and initiatives aligned with company goals
- Administer benefits including open enrollment, benefit reconciliations, payroll related functions in collaboration with Accounting Department
- Maintain performance review process, including evaluations, coaching, and career development
- Maintain employee and HR records
- Serve as the primary point of contact for HR-related inquiries
- Lead onboarding, offboarding, immigration processes, and Visa assistance for overseas employees
- Manage employee relations including conflict resolution, investigations, and disciplinary actions
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws, and company policies along with related reporting
- Annual non-discrimination testing for 401(k) and FSA plans and other benefit compliance
- Workers’ compensation management which includes investigations, prevention, first reports, management and record keeping of employees’ physician visits. Work closely with the safety director to ensure compliance with OSHA standards
- FMLA management including eligibility, tracking, return to work follow-ups, and benefit payments
- Assist with recruitment and retention strategies
- Create and maintain job descriptions
- Maintain HR systems with accurate and up-to-date information
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of human resources, compliance, and/or payroll experience
- SHRM certification
- Strong knowledge of employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, etc.)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and payroll software
- Experience in employee counseling on performance issues
- Experience in multi-state HR Management preferred
- Background in maintaining HR policies preferred
- Experience with workers’ compensation and OSHA standards preferred
- For this position, you will be paid $60-85k/year
- Direct Hire position
