Position: Program Assistant  Program: Purposeful Investigation of Careers in Healthcare (PICH)

Program Operations

  • Format: Saturday-based youth career development enrichment program.
  • Schedule: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (2 Saturdays per month).
Position Overview

The Program Assistant provides essential administrative and logistical support to the PICH program, ensuring smooth operations and a positive experience for all participants.

This role is ideal for a health professional student who is passionate about youth development and the healthcare field. The assistant will work closely with staff to coordinate activities, assist with data collection, and serve as a mentor for high school students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Support: Assist in planning and implementing all program activities and the pilot study. Manage logistics, including confirming healthcare presenters and setting up virtual/in-person equipment.
  • Youth Engagement: Supervise and mentor participants, fostering a supportive and professional learning environment.
  • Administrative Duties: General office tasks, including data entry, correspondence, and record maintenance. Serve as a liaison between participants, parents, and staff.
  • Curriculum Assistance: Support the development of materials related to health professions and job readiness. Facilitate discussions on health disparities, health equity, and current healthcare topics.
  • Other Duties: Perform other program-related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in a healthcare-related field (Medicine, Pre-Med, Nursing, Pharmacy, etc.).
  • Experience: Experience working with school-aged youth is a plus.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organization: Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Availability: Must be able to work the required Saturday schedule.
