Overview

Thursday, January 22, at 3030 Knollwood Drive in Mobile, from 10 am to 2 pm.

AltaPointe’s Adult Residential Services are designed for consumers with serious and persistent mental illness who require social rehabilitation and community support. The program combines medical, nursing and clinical services to care for more than 200 adults in need of intensive service provision. The program consists of group homes supervised 24 hours a day when consumers are on the premises. Outcomes aim to prevent rehospitalization and maximize successful community placement.

Residential care focuses on rehabilitation and return to the community of seriously mentally ill consumers.

Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing monitoring and interaction with consumers, including training on basic living skills (BLS) according to assessed needs and implementation of behavioral plans when applicable
  • Meet daily productivity standards through individual and group BLS services
  • Assist consumers with personal care issues (bathing, toileting, hygiene), medication use, chores, and safety issues
  • Demonstrate willingness to work at any ARS facility based on staffing needs
  • Prepare consumer meals according to individualized dietary orders, posted menus, and stock food and household items
  • Recognize elements of a crisis state and take a proactive approach to deescalate or resolve situations
  • Maintain ongoing compliance with the Nurse Delegation Program, including recertification requirements
  • Adhere to the posted household schedule, individual appointments, and implement planned activities
  • Transport consumers to and from appointments and outings
  • Model appropriate behavior, communication, grooming and manners
  • Work with consumers and staff to ensure house cleanliness
  • Handoff communication at shift change and effective collaboration with the treatment team
  • Comply with routine health and safety tasks for house and vehicles
  • Report accidents or driving violations to supervisor and human resources
  • Seek supervision and consultation as needed
  • Accept and employ suggestions for improvement
  • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings
  • Document in a timely and legible manner, including progress notes and detailed BLS services provided
  • Treat consumers with care, dignity and compassion; respect privacy and confidentiality
  • Be pleasant and cooperative with others and assist consumers and visitors as needed
  • Ensure personal values do not inhibit ability to relate and care for others
  • Be sensitive to consumer needs, expectations and individual differences
  • Be gentle and calm with consumers and families
  • Actively participate in Performance Improvement activities and AltaPointe committees as required
  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner and follow AltaPointe policies and procedures
  • Attend appropriate in-services training and other workshops
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor or designee
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent to constant standing while organizing/stocking groceries
  • Frequent sitting; up to 1.5 hours for documentation and 1 hour for group time
  • Walking various distances on grounds; distance up to 300 feet
  • Squatting/lunging to stock/organize groceries and to retrieve pots/pans
  • Strong grasp for handling groceries/supplies and cooking
  • Fine motor manipulation for writing and paperwork
  • Pushing/pulling up to 5 pounds to open standing freezer doors
  • Lifting up to 5-15 pounds frequently, 30-40 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds 1-2 times per day
  • May perform cleaning duties (mopping, sweeping, making beds, washing/drying clothes) for consumers
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

This position is a self-scheduling role. Employees choose preferred shifts 6 weeks in advance based on availability at their location or approved alternate locations. Full-time employees work 3, 12-hour shifts per week (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) including rotating weekends. Part-time roles typically involve 1–2 shifts per week depending on location, and PRN (as needed) about once per month or more.

Shifts are guides for supervisors to build schedules around employee preferences and are not guaranteed. Schedules can change based on facility needs. Overtime may be required and scheduled in advance.

Minimum requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent; must be 21 years of age or older.
