The Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and respectful transportation for individuals living in a residential group home. This role supports daily activities, medical appointments, community outings, and other approved destinations while promoting dignity, independence, and person-centered care.

- Safely transport individuals to and from medical appointments, day programs, employment sites, recreational activities, and community outings
- Ensure all passengers follow safety procedures, including seat belt use and mobility device securement
- Assist individuals with entering and exiting the vehicle as needed
- Maintain accurate transportation logs, mileage records, and trip documentation
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly
- Keep vehicles clean, fueled, and in good working condition
- Follow all agency policies, state regulations, and HIPAA confidentiality requirements
- Communicate effectively with residential staff regarding schedules, changes, and individual needs
- Respond appropriately to behavioral or medical situations during transport following training and protocols
- Represent the agency professionally in the community
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle record check
- Basic knowledge of traffic laws and safe driving practices
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed
- Physical ability to assist passengers and manage mobility equipment
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health needs, or in human services
- CPR, First Aid, and defensive driving certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Familiarity with Medicaid-funded residential or waiver services
- Dependable, patient, and safety-focused
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and respectful approach to supporting individuals
- Ability to remain calm in stressful or unexpected situations
- Attention to detail and strong time-management skills
- Residential group home and community-based settings
- Frequent local driving
