The Retrofit Solutions Engineer is responsible for creating specific modification design data packages that integrate pre‑identified existing designs into post‑delivery aircraft. These packages include drawings and modification specification documents tailored for certification. The engineer ensures the quality and timely availability of draft Service Bulletin deliverables. Communication with Systems Engineers and Production Managers is frequent to guarantee on‑time delivery and production capacity.

Your working environmentThe Engineering Center in Mobile, Alabama houses hundreds of Airbus engineers who assist in designing and developing commercial aircraft cabins, including aftermarket upgrades, reconfigurations, and services for all product types globally.
Your challenges- Timely production of the Modification Proposal Technical Repercussion Sheet (MP/TRS) with pre‑ and post‑modification sketching.
- Retrieving, creating, updating, checking aircraft drawings in Airbus engineering tools (managing subcontractors as applicable).
- Building the certification dossier for the MAS (Modification Approval Sheet).
- Preparing all elements required for the Service Bulletin writing phase, including component lists, ensuring data accuracy.
- Providing design solutions to meet technical requirements for modifications.
- Ensuring the quality of drafted Service Bulletins, including cross‑checking concurrent requirements.
- Delivering remote or on‑site assistance during working parties and answering customer queries as needed.
- Acting as a liaison between engineering and Service Bulletin authors to ensure mutual understanding of technical discussions.
- B.S. degree in engineering or a related field.
- 1 year of engineering‑classification experience.
- Technical understanding of aircraft cabin and avionics system modifications.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Capability to mentor within your discipline and interpret diverse technical aircraft topics.
- Strong coordination, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Onsite or remote:
Onsite 100% - Vision: able to read computer screens, documents, and engineering drawings.
- Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference.
- Speaking: able to participate in meetings and deliver information.
- Equipment Operation: able to use most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools.
- Carrying: able to carry documents and tools up to 30 lbs (14 kg).
- Lifting: able to lift documents and tools up to 30 lbs (14 kg).
- Pushing/Pulling: able to move small office furniture and equipment.
- Sitting: able to sit for long periods while working on the computer.
- Squatting/Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve items from low shelving.
- Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
- Travel: able to travel independently and on short notice.
- Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.
- Personal Protective Equipment: required PPE includes safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and protective gloves as required by site or customer site.
This is a contract position with no specified term; it may be extended or shortened as needed. Contractors are employed by a third‑party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus.
