Job Description:

Under the Airbus Americas Engineering (AA1) Organization, the Head of Production Flight Test team is responsible for the financial, operational, functional, resources and people management and leadership of the multifunctional Flight Test team at the Mobile Manufacturing Site. The Director of Flight Test liaises with A320/A220 Program Engineering, relevant Airbus Centers of Competence and the Customer Line to obtain Certificate of Airworthiness (CoA) and customer acceptance of production aircraft.

• Operational and Functional Responsibility:
  Manage all ground tests and flight tests required to obtain CoA and customer acceptance of production aircraft.
• Coordinate with the Customer Line organization, including planning, to manage resources to achieve daily objectives.
• Manage day-to-day operations to achieve daily/weekly/monthly industrial targets.
• Participate in inter-company activities (e.g., improvement, AOS, digital transformation) to work as an integrated organization.
• Establish, maintain updates and enforce compliance of Flight Test Operations with FTC manuals for both the A220 and A320 Programs:
  Flight Operations Manual (FOM), Ground Operations Method (GOM), Safety Management System (SMS).
• Establish Flight Test engineering operational strategies by evaluating engineering trends, establishing critical measurements, determining productivity and quality, and anticipating customer strategies and needs.
• Translate company strategy by defining short, mid and long-term action plans to meet business direction and initiatives.
• Collaborate in transnational and cross-program Flight Test and Engineering routines and workshops to align objectives, strategies and improvement activities.
• Develop engineering organizational strategies by contributing engineering information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction, and establishing engineering objectives in line with organizational objectives.
• Shape and translate the Flight Test Engineering organization to impact top company objectives.
• Define performance and operational strategies with key stakeholders to protect MMS industrial activities and ramp-up targets.
• Manage team objectives and communicate KPIs for Flight Test activities and deliverables; define and implement corrective and improvement measures to foster efficiency.

• Resources and People Responsibility:
  Create and implement resource and capability development strategies, determine roles and responsibilities, and implement policies and procedures.
• Recruitment, selection, training, coaching, disciplinary and communication programs; plan, monitor, appraise performance and plan compensation strategies.
• Provide leadership to create an efficient, inclusive and diverse engineering team aligned with Airbus values and ethical behavior.
• Attract, retain and develop engineering talent; minimize attrition.
• Develop processes to maintain team members with appropriate skills and qualifications; foster accountability and local team autonomy.
• Develop personnel with qualifications for Delegation of Authority for Flight Conditions and TAC through DOS delegation from 1VX (A320) and Airbus Canada (A220).

• Financial Responsibility:
  Define and manage the annual operational plan including finance/budget, resources and headcount; ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
• Monitor financial performance, analyze trends, and initiate corrective actions to meet annual targets.
• Forecast and plan financial efficiency strategies; contribute to program delivery and financial objectives.
• Communicate business and financial performance to local and transnational management; coordinate with stakeholders on workload, make/buy decisions and ramp-up objectives.
• Responsible for all financial aspects of the Flight Test engineering organization, including budget and program performance.
• Maintain Flight Test Qualification (Pilot/FTE/GTE) to act as a crew member on Production Test Flights; ensure duties align with the Pilot/FTE/GTE job description.
