Liaison engineering supporting heavy maintenance base operations at aircraft MROs.
Principle Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:
- Providing technical dispositions (via Engineering Authorizations) and guidance for aircraft issues that exceed published limits for structural damage including sheet metal and composite repairs. This often includes performing a structural analysis.
- Providing work deviation authorization, interpretation of service documents & Engineering Orders.
- Providing options for repairing versus replacing a part to minimize financial impact.
- Providing aircraft system trouble shooting assistance to Base Maintenance.
- Attending daily production meeting and pre‑induction meeting to ensure timely support.
- Providing on‑site engineering assistance for significantly damaged line aircraft as required.
- Coordinating events/issues with Engineering Fleet Groups for additional action, troubleshooting and follow‑up.
- Monitoring trends and recurring discrepancies requiring corrective action. Developing Typical Repairs and manual supplement to eliminate repetitive BA requests.
- BS Degree (or higher) in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.
- Two plus (2+) years in a specific technical discipline.
- Ability to perform structural analysis to substantiate repairs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong investigative, analytical, and problem solving skills.
- Self‑motivated, conscientious and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of FARs, FAA policies, and vendor manual (AMM, IPC, CMM).
- Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule to meet internal customer's needs.
- Aircraft/airline/MRO or aviation engineering experience desired.
- Typical shift is Tuesday thru the following Monday.
- 10 hours a day (w/ additional 5 hours of pay on either end to cover travel).
- 7 on/7 off rotation (no relocation requirement).
- Travel costs covered (i.e., flights, hotel, rental car, etc.).
The location will start in Charlotte with two to three weeks of training. Once training has been completed, the location will change to one of the other locations listed above. Additionally, the location is subject to change (with advanced notice) depending on where coverage is needed.
CompensationThis is a W-2 hourly position with an estimated pay rate of $65.00 per hour.
