Project Scheduler – Austal USA

The Project Scheduler is responsible for maintaining and analyzing the schedule for a vessel. The role integrates all aspects of the program—from Engineering, Material, Production, Sub‑contracting, Testing, final acceptance to delivery—to ensure an accurate, integrated Project Baseline Schedule and compliance with government requirements.
Reporting & Supervisory RelationshipReports To: Senior Project Scheduler

Responsibilities- Maintain and analyze the vessel schedule.
- Integrate program aspects from Engineering, Material, Production, Sub‑contracting, Testing, final acceptance and delivery.
- Create and manage the Project Baseline Schedule, ensuring labor and material dollar activities are accurately scheduled and resource‑loaded.
- Ensure the accuracy of the monthly BAR process.
- Enter progress data each week.
- Oversee schedule health metrics to ensure compliance with government requirements.
- Review and analyze manning requirements for the assigned project.
- Collaborate with the vessel Project Manager and Craft Management to provide schedule and manning information.
- Train Production Control department scheduling personnel.
Full discretionary authority to assign work.
Must train and mentor junior department members.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Experience- Minimum 4 years progressive experience or demonstrable ability with Primavera scheduling software (supporting weekly/monthly reporting and baseline maintenance).
- Strong background in Earned Value Management (EVMS) and knowledge of EIA‑ANSI 748A standard.
- Support scheduling department in preparation for government meetings.
- Thorough understanding of planning/scheduling principles, practices and techniques.
- Familiarity with MILL 881 Handbook – WBS structure.
- Working familiarity with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
- Process‑oriented, customer‑service‑driven, problem solver, self‑starter, team player.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Detail oriented with ability to resolve daily issues independently.
- High School or GED or a minimum of five (5) years related experience in a related manufacturing industry preferred; college degree and shipbuilding industry experience preferred.
Engineering department, Operations department, Production and Project departments, prime contractors, and the customer as requested.
Additional Guidelines- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required.
- Employment eligibility:
- 18 years of age or older.
- Able to provide proof of US Person Status.
- No felony convictions of Theft/Deception or Violent crimes within seven years from disposition date.
- No felony convictions of drug crimes within three years from disposition date.
- Willing to submit to a drug screen.
- Willing to submit to a background check.
