Position: Finish Sprayer / Stainer

  • Apply stains, sealers, paints, and topcoats to cabinet components using spray equipment and hand application techniques.
  • Mix and match stains or finishes to achieve consistent color and sheen per production specifications.
  • Inspect parts before and after finishing to ensure quality, uniform coverage, and defect‑free surfaces.
  • Sand components between coats and prepare surfaces for final finishing.
  • Maintain spray booths, spray guns, and finishing equipment in proper working condition.
  • Follow safety guidelines and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals.
  • Label and track finished parts and communicate progress with team leads.
  • Assist in color matching and sample preparation as needed.
Required Skills
  • Skilled in using HVLP spray guns and other finishing tools.
  • Understanding of wood finishing processes including staining, sealing, and top coating.
  • Ability to follow finishing specifications and quality standards.
  • Basic knowledge of sanding and surface preparation techniques.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience finishing high‑end custom cabinetry or millwork.
  • Knowledge of water‑based and solvent‑based finishes.
  • Familiarity with color theory and wood species behavior under different finishes.
  • Ability to identify and correct common finish defects (e.g., runs, orange peel, blotching).
Soft Skills
  • Attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship.
  • Strong work ethic and dependability.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new products or techniques.
Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of experience in wood finishing, preferably in a cabinet or furniture manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in standing or repetitive positions for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a controlled environment with exposure to chemicals and airborne particulates (PPE provided).
