Under the supervision of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Lead worker, the incumbent performs work associated with maintaining highway assets. Responsibilities include paving, pothole patching, mowing, debris removal, crack sealing, guardrail repair, traffic control, general custodial duties at maintenance stations, and operating Category 3 vehicles requiring a Class C driver’s license. May operate Category 2 equipment when properly licensed. The worker may work alone or with crew members and is expected to accomplish tasks with a reasonable degree of independence.

Locations: 2019 W. Texas St. Fairfield, CA 94533; 8638 Sparling Ln Dixon, CA 95620; 1700 Lewis Brown Dr Vallejo, CA 94590;
Solano County. The incumbent may work in all types of weather (20–100°F, strong winds, rain, fog, sleet, flooding). Hazards include poison oak, insect bites, loud noise, dust, chemicals, flying debris, high‑speed traffic adjacent to the work zone, moving construction equipment, working at heights greater than 7 feet, confined spaces, overnight travel, emergency response, and weekends/holidays. Safety equipment required: earplugs, hard hats, proper footwear, safety glasses.

• Valid California Driver’s License (Class
  
  C). CDL required for certain equipment.
• Pass a drug screening prior to hire.
