This temporary positions are located in the Pacific West Region. These positions are open continuous vacancy announcements. DutyStations
- Golden Gate National Recreation Area – Sausalito, California. Class A Commercial Driver’s License is required. Anticipated entry on duty is May, 2026.
- Great Basin National Park – Baker, Nevada. Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brake and Tanker endorsements is required. Anticipated entry on duty is May, 2026. Government housing may be available.
- Haleakalā National Park – Kula, Hawaii. Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brake endorsement is required. Anticipated entry on duty is April, 2026.
- Joshua Tree National Park – Twenty nine Palms, California. Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a Tanker endorsement is required.
- Lassen Volcanic National Park – Manzanita Lake and Mineral, California. Class A Commercial Driver’s License is required. Anticipated entry on duty is May, 2026.
- Olympic National Park – Port Angeles, Washington. Class A Commercial Driver’s License with no restrictions is required. Anticipated entry on duty is April, 2026.
- Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area – Thousand Oaks, California. Class B Commercial Driver’s License is required. Anticipated entry on duty is April, 2026.
- Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks – Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park, California. Class A Commercial Driver’s License is required. Anticipated entry on duty is April, 2026.
- Whiskeytown National Recreation Area – Whiskeytown, California. Class A Commercial Driver’s License is required. Anticipated entry on duty is May, 2026.
- Operating multiple types of heavy engineering equipment inclusive of gasoline or diesel‑powered heavy equipment, five cubic‑yard dump trucks, road graders, and front‑end loaders.
- Operating heavy equipment to move and load material such as dirt and other material.
- Operating vehicles with auxiliary attachments (e.g., mowers, sweeper, sanding units) to perform duties.
- Operating trucks and equipment with multiple functions like front loader/compactor trash trucks.
- Operating various types of equipment and trucks on congested roadways, in inclement weather and on steep and narrow roadways.
- Loads, secures, and hauls equipment to and from project sites using truck and trailer.
Heavy physical effort is required in constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle different sets of controls to operate the equipment and attachments. Considerable strain is caused by constant vibration of the equipment and the jerking and jolting from operating over rough surfaces. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds and often puts forth similar effort when pushing, pulling, turning and positioning parts, assemblies, equipment and tools.
WorkingConditions
Works both inside and outside, with the majority of work performed outside. When working outside, worker is frequently exposed to inclement weather. Incumbent works in rain, mud, snow, and in hot/cold temperatures. The operator is frequently exposed to irritation or discomfort from dust, fumes, oils, solvents and cold and dampness. Worker is frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts, abrasions, bruises and strains while servicing and operating equipment.
Summer conditions could include noise, and potential hazards in the form of poisonous plants, insects, wild animals and snakes. Follows prescribed safety practices and uses safety equipment such as protective hearing devices and hard hats.
