Salary Range: Approx. $36.30/hr

Employment Type: Full-time (40 hrs/week)
Shift: Full-time, on-call, overtime, nights, alternating shifts, weekends, and holidays
Travel: Required, job sites for extended periods; may stay for days or weeks in the seniority region.
Training: Company-paid on-the-job and classroom training; may travel to BNSF Training Center.
- Track maintenance repair and installation, including repair and rebuild railroad track, pull spikes, cut, weld, drill rail, and maintain a clean right of way by removing hazards such as brush, trees, vegetation, litter, and cargo spillage.
- Maintain trackbed by manually compressing ballast, removing/installing ties, cutting and adjusting rail; lift and carry materials with assistance.
- Operate equipment: power hand tools (electric, pneumatic or hydraulic) and non-powered tools like shovels, picks, saws, and grinders.
- Perform daily work in a safety-sensitive environment under diverse weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, sleet) while walking on uneven surfaces near loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.
- Adhere to BNSF’s safety regulations, rules, and policies, including wearing safety equipment and responding to emergencies.
- No reliance on BNSF for employment authorization assistance (H‑1B, STEM OPT/CPT, TN).
- At least 18 years of age or will be by the start date.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license.
- Available to report for duty at the work location.
- Capable of working safely in the described conditions.
- Capable of working the required shift hours.
- Will meet travel requirements.
- Able to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Available to travel to and remain on job sites in seniority region; may stay days or weeks.
- Able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs occasionally.
- Able to visually distinguish colors — red, blue, green, yellow, and lunar (clear) light.
- Ability to discriminate and differentiate between verbal and non-verbal sounds (signals, alarms).
- Ability to use hands to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning, and pulling.
- Occasional climbing on/off equipment.
- Bend, walk, stand, and sit for extended periods; use hand tools.
- Follow safety policies, procedures, and wear required PPE.
Union: Membership is with the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees (BMWE); union dues are required as per agreement.
Seniority District Transfers: Handled per union agreement, seniority-based, require Director approval.
Relocation assistance not available. 60‑day probationary period applies.
