JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMER CAMP ORGANIZED SPORTS LEAD COUNSELOR

At Kehoe-France Northshore and International Schools Partnerships, we are committed to the well‑being and protection of minors. Kehoe-France recognizes its role in safeguarding children as our primary concern. All staff of the school are considered by Louisiana state law as ‘mandated reporters’ who must report any and all allegations of abuse that are shared with them.

JOB SUMMARY

Kehoe-France Northshore is looking for a high‑energy, athletic, and motivating Organized Sports Lead to run our daily sports activities. In this role, you will lead campers aged 5–13 through a variety of games and drills, serving as a coach, referee, and role model. We are looking for someone who can balance skill‑building with fun, ensuring that every camper—regardless of their athletic ability—feels included and encouraged.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Activity Leadership: Organize and facilitate daily sports rotations including, but not limited to:
soccer, flag football, basketball, volleyball, kickball, and dodgeball.

Active Engagement: This is an active role. You will be expected to participate in drills, referee games, and maintain high energy levels throughout the day to keep campers excited.

Promote Sportsmanship: Actively teach and model good sportsmanship. Help campers navigate winning and losing with grace, resolve conflicts, and encourage teamwork.

Instruction: Explain rules clearly and adapt games to fit different age groups (e.g., simplifying rules for 5‑year‑olds vs. competitive play for 13‑year‑olds).

Safety & Wellness: Monitor the physical safety of campers, ensure proper hydration during hot days, and inspect sports equipment daily for safety hazards.

Inclusive Environment: Ensure a “fun‑first” atmosphere where campers of all skill levels feel comfortable participating.

Prior experience playing or coaching organized sports is preferred. You must be familiar with the rules and fundamentals of the standard team sports listed above.
