Position: Head Junior Varsity Volleyball Coach
Location: Austin Catholic High School
Type: Contract
Position OverviewAustin Catholic Volleyball Program is seeking a passionate and motivated Head Junior Varsity Coach to lead and develop our JV volleyball program. This individual will be responsible for fostering a positive, competitive environment that prepares student‑athletes for success at the varsity level while building their skills, teamworkreon, and love for the sport.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and lead all JV practices, conditioning sessions, and game strategies
- Work collaboratively with the Varsity Head Coach to align program goals and philosophies
- Mentor and develop student-athletes, focusing on skill development, game IQ, and sportsmanship
- Organize and manage game‑day operations for the JV team, including lineups, substitutions, and in‑game adjustments
- Analyze team and individual performance, providing museums feedback and support to athletes
- Promote a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes discipline, effort, and mutual respect
- Assist with tracking and managing team statistics
- Collaborate with the coaching staff to review film for both player and team improvement
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and the athletic department
- Monitor student‑athletes' academic progress and encourage their success in the classroom
- Strong understanding of volleyball fundamentals, strategies, and techniques
- Previous playing experience
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Varsity Head Coach and the athletic department
- Experience with statistics tracking and video analysis tools is a plus
- Passion for developing student‑athletes both on and off the court
- Ability to attend practices, games, and team events during volleyball season
- Ability to assist with summer camp program
- Must complete or have completed Protecting God’s Children training through the Archdiocese of Detroit.
- Must submit to a new background check, if not completed within the last 6 months.
- Must have a valid CPR certificate or obtain one.
- Follow all MHSAA & CHSL coaching requirements, such as CAP courses offered by the MHSAA
