Automation Engineer

Frontegg is a user management platform trusted by hundreds of B2B SaaS companies. We're now building Agen — the infrastructure layer that makes applications "AI agent-ready." Think of it as Stripe for AI agent integration: we sit between AI agents (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini) and enterprise APIs, providing secure, controlled access with proper authentication, authorization, and audit trails.

Agen is our next-generation product that enables:

• MCP Gateway: A secure proxy between AI agents and enterprise APIs
• Agent Registry:
  Track and manage which AI agents access your systems
• Policy Engine:
  Define what agents can and cannot do

We're building the trust layer for the AI agent economy — and we need someone to help us ship with confidence.

We're looking for an Automation Engineer to join the Agen team. You'll own our testing infrastructure and help us move fast without breaking things. This is a hands‑on role where you'll design, build, and maintain automated testing across our entire stack.

• Build and maintain Playwright test suites for our MCP Gateway
• Write integration tests for OAuth flows, policy enforcement, and API proxying
• Create automated E2E tests for our React-based admin portal and marketplace
• Develop contract tests for our MCP protocol implementations
• Build performance/load testing infrastructure for concurrent AI agent connections

• Extend and maintain our Git Hub Actions workflows for faster, more reliable deployments
• Set up test environments that mirror production (AWS, Mongo
  
  DB, MySQL)
• Build automated smoke tests for multi‑region deployments (US, EU, AU, CA, UK)
• Create alerting and monitoring for test failures and regressions

• Partner with developers to write testable code from the start
• Review PRs with a testing mindset — catch what automated tests might miss
• Document testing patterns and best practices for the team
• Identify gaps in test coverage and prioritize what to automate next

• 2-4 years of experience in QA automation, test engineering, or similar roles
• Experience with Playwright or similar E2E testing frameworks
• Familiarity with REST API testing (Postman, supertest, or similar)
• Experience with Git Hub Actions for CI/CD pipelines
• Comfortable with Git and collaborative development workflows
• Strong debugging skills — you can trace a flaky test to its root cause

• Familiarity with OAuth/OIDC flows — we do a lot of authentication testing
• Experience testing multi-tenant SaaS applications
• Knowledge of Docker and containerized testing environments
• Exposure to AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, Cloud Watch)
• Experience with Mongo
  
  DB, MySQL, or Snowflake
• Familiarity with load testing tools (k6, Artillery, Locust)
• Experience with mobile testing (iOS / Android)
• Understanding of AI/LLM applications — not required, but you'll pick it up fast
