About Frontline Wildfire Defense

Founded in 2017 by landscape ecologist and fire mitigation expert Harry Statter, Frontline developed the first fully integrated wildfire defense system to stop the leading cause of home loss in wildfires: ember-driven ignition. The system combines exterior sprinklers, full-coverage design, and connected software for remote monitoring and response, allowing homes to protect themselves long after families evacuate or infrastructure fails.

Proven effective during the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, 96% of homes with Frontline systems survived. That success has earned top industry recognition, including Frontline being recognized as one of TIME’s Best Inventions 2025 in the Green Tech category and receiving the PCBC Gold Nugget Award for “Most Innovative Housing Concept” and the Best of IBS Award for “Best Home Technology.”

As wildfires grow hotter and more frequent, our vision is to give people the tools and strategies to live safely with fire. We’re building a mission-driven team creating real-world solutions in wildfire safety and climate tech.

About This Opportunity

As a Full Stack Software Engineer
, you will design, build, and scale the internal and customer-facing software systems that power Frontline’s growing technology platform. You’ll play a key role developing tools and products that connect the business, field operations, and customers—from sales and installation automation to real‑time monitoring and fleet management.

You’ll work across the stack – from contributing and connecting to backend systems in Elixir/Phoenix, building intuitive React + Type Script frontends, and integrating APIs with cloud infrastructure – to deliver high-quality, scalable software. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working closely with product, design, and operations teams to transform manual workflows into automated, reliable, and user-friendly systems and helping to scale our wildfire protection capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain full‑stack applications that support internal operations and customer‑facing platforms.
  • Develop and connect to backend services and APIs using Elixir/Phoenix/Live View, and Postgre

    SQL/PostGIS.
  • Build frontend interfaces in React + Type Script that streamline internal workflows across all functions.
  • Partner with product, operations, and field engineering to translate business processes into automated tools and services.
  • Integrate APIs with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform) and telemetry data pipelines.
  • Improve reliability, observability, and deployment efficiency through CI/CD and testing automation.
  • Participate in design reviews, architecture discussions, and code reviews to ensure scalability and maintainability.
Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • 5+ years in full‑stack or backend‑focused software engineering roles.
  • Proficiency in Elixir/Phoenix or comparable backend frameworks (e.g., Go, Node, Rails).
  • Experience building APIs (Graph

QL/REST) and integrating with cloud‑based services.
  • Strong frontend skills in React + Type Script.
  • Solid understanding of Postgre

    SQL, Timescale

    DB, or similar relational databases.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
  • Excellent collaboration skills; comfortable working cross‑functionally in a small, fast‑paced team.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with geospatial data systems (PostGIS, Mapbox, ArcGIS).
  • Background in IoT, telemetry, or real‑time systems.
  • Experience building internal tools or automation systems.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, monitoring, or observability tooling (Grafana, Loki, Cloud Watch).
  • Prior experience in a startup or mission‑driven tech environment.
Benefits
  • Company‑provided cell phone and laptop computer
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • 401(k) Plan
  • Flexible time off policy + 10 paid holidays per year
