Position Summary
The Community Support Specialist provides in-home and community-based support to individuals and families by assisting with benefits enrollment, resource navigation, and basic case management activities. This is an entry-level position, ideal for a student currently pursuing a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or a related human services degree who is seeking hands-on community experience.
Schedule & PayPart-Time: 28 hours per week
Schedule:
Monday–Thursday 10:00 AM–4:00 PM;
Friday 10:00 AM–2:00 PMPay: $18.00 per hour
Mileage:
Mileage reimbursement provided for approved work-related travel per organizational policy
Provide in-home and community-based support to clients
Assist with SNAP applications, benefits enrollment, and renewals
Support clients with accessing community resources and public benefits (similar to benefits enrollment/navigation services)
Conduct basic needs assessments and follow-up with clients
Maintain timely, accurate documentation of services provided
Coordinate with community agencies and service providers
Maintain client confidentiality and professional boundaries
Attend supervision, team meetings, and required trainings
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW) or related field (human services, psychology, sociology, public health, etc.)
Some experience providing community support or outreach (paid, volunteer, internship, or field placement experience accepted)
Ability to self-regulate, manage time effectively, and work independently in the community
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
Ability to pass required background checks
Exposure to case management, outreach, or client support work
Familiarity with public benefits systems (SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, housing assistance, etc.)
Experience working with diverse or underserved populations
