Ability Path is hiring On-Call Program Instructors to join our team!

The Program Instructor provides engaging instruction in support of high-quality participant services through community-based or on-site activities. We are looking for talented folks interested in working with the disability community either at our sites or out in the community. This is a great opportunity for those considering careers in special education, speech, occupational or recreational therapy, nonprofit work, or a second career.

Compensation: $23-24/hr

Schedule: On-call and substitute work with flexible hours; you can make your own schedule based on availability.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Provide engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction to participants; instruction may be community-based, on-site, or provided virtually.
  • Use modification techniques to respond to challenging behaviors and support behavioral plans to increase engagement
  • Complete documentation for tracking participant goals and progress
  • Supervise and assist participants during volunteer activities, paid work, classes, and other community activities
  • Travel training for participants using public transportation; ensure safety and well-being during outings
  • Participate in agency functions and attend staff meetings and trainings
  • Maintain professional relationships and provide excellent customer service with external parties, families, caregivers, and participants
  • Assist participants with personal hygiene as needed
  • Drive agency vehicles as needed
  • Transport participants to activities and events; provide route service as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Education degree in applicable field
  • Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities preferred

HIRING REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3 years of a valid California Driver’s License/
  • 3 years of a clean driving record (if applicable)
  • Proof of negative TB test results
  • Verification of physical clearance
  • Passing a criminal fingerprint clearance
