The Opportunity:
Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking for Equipment Operator, Water Systems at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 7x7, 12‑hour, day and night shift schedule.
Please note that this opportunity is NOT a fly‑in‑fly‑out position.

Location
Copper Mountain Mine, is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community‑oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.
Summary
Reporting to Water Systems Shift Supervisor, the Water Systems Equipment Operator, is responsible for providing full oversight of heavy equipment in accordance with best practices and safe operating procedures. This role supports the site water management through use of heavy equipment for pumping and piping asset set up and by maintaining roads / access to pumping and piping assets across the Copper Mountain Mine (CMM) site.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with the tailings management facilities’ (TMF) Operation, Maintenance, Surveillance (OMS) manual and any related water systems OMS manual,
- Ensures site compliance with mining regulations and follows Copper Mountain Mine site’s safety, quality, and environmental standards in all aspects of work,
- Observes Occupational Health and Safety Act, Mines Act, and Copper Mountain SOPs,
- Assists in pipe fitting and fusing,
- Provides bolting and unbolting HDPE pipe,
- Works with dozer, excavator, grader, and articulating rock trucks,
- Assists in any operational issues in any area of the mine including relines and support maintenance on mill shutdown days,
- Performs any other responsibilities related to the Water Systems Equipment Operator position as required or as assigned by the department head.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED),
- Must have safe rigging or be able to obtain certification,
- Minimum of two (2) years in the operation of Dozer, Excavator, Grader, and Articulating Rock Truck,
- Pipe fitting/fusing, tailings facility and/or mine water systems experiences preferred,
- Possess a valid Class 5/7N British Columbia driver’s license and…
