Falls Creek is seeking experienced, trade-qualified Lift Fitters to join our Lift Maintenance team on a full-time permanent contract
. This position is ideal for mechanically minded trades professionals who enjoy hands‑on work, problem‑solving, and maintaining complex lift systems in a dynamic alpine environment.

The Opportunity

As a Lift Fitter, you will support the maintenance and safe operation of Falls Creek’s extensive lift network, including fixed grip and detachable chairlifts, surface lifts, conveyors, and associated mechanical systems. Working closely with the Lift Maintenance Manager, Supervisors and broader maintenance team, you will perform scheduled servicing, fault diagnostics, mechanical repairs, component replacements, and system testing to ensure lift reliability and compliance with regulatory standards.

This role requires a high level of mechanical aptitude, adherence to safe work practices, and the ability to work efficiently in variable weather conditions, including during peak winter operations
. Lift Fitters are employed under the Falls Creek and Hotham Trades Maintenance Agreement 2025 with a base hourly rate of $47.00 – $56.88 per hour (dependent on experience & qualifications)

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Perform maintenance, repair, and installation of ski lift and ropeway equipment
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections to ensure safe and reliable lift operations
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and extra-low-voltage control issues
  • Support tower maintenance, sheave train alignment, and tensioning systems
  • Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance and maintain accurate service records
  • Respond promptly to lift breakdowns and operational issues during resort hours
  • Operate heavy equipment and hand tools safely and efficiently
  • Assist with lift construction, upgrades, and decommissioning projects as required
  • Support snow clearing and access preparation for lift maintenance areas
  • Assist vehicle maintenance staff as required
The Expertise You Bring
  • A recognised Mechanical Trade qualification (Fitter & Turner, Mechanical Fitter, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years’ post-apprenticeship experience in mechanical maintenance or fitting roles, including working at heights and following safe work procedures
  • Strong mechanical diagnostics skills and ability to identify and resolve faults
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to work effectively in alpine and winter conditions.

Highly Desirable:

  • High-risk work licences (dogging, rigging, EWP, forklift)
  • Skiing or snowboarding ability
