Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
General maintenance is responsible for the grounds and building maintenance and for repairing and maintaining machinery and equipment, both mechanical and electrical, throughout the physical plant.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings, manufacturer’s specifications and various other instructional materials.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant Safety and Environmental regulations, including lockout, tag out, universal waste disposal, and SDS.
- Check forklift and equipment batteries.
- Maintain and move equipment/furniture as needed.
- Perform ground maintenance as required.
- Create and make signs for the facility as needed.
- Change various filters as assigned.
- Conduct daily equipment Preventive Maintenance as assigned.
- Paint and clean as required.
- Possess basic knowledge of electrical and mechanics.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required skills include:
- Ability to safely operate pallet jack and powered forklift, hydraulic lift, crane, tractor, and other industrial equipment.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and focus on tasks.
- Desire to learn new processes and procedures to improve business performance.
Physical requirements include:
- Full range of body motion, including bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or otherwise maneuvering the entire body.
- Ability to stand 100% of the time.
- Heavy material handling and/or lifting as described in the Physical Demands Analysis of the position.
- Ability to work off of the ground on ladders and/or hydraulic lifts.
Working conditions include a plant floor environment, with minimal travel required. A valid driver’s license is necessary for company vehicle operation.
Education requirements include a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent experience. The company also requires a willingness to develop core competencies in areas such as industrial electrical principles, electrical print reading, and hydraulic principles.
Maintenance skill tests are required to establish baseline skills and determine developmental needs.
