Job DescriptionWelder / Fabricator – Shop & Field (Travel + Customer Project Lead)
Position SummaryDeHart Recycling Equipment is seeking a skilled Welder / Fabricator – Shop & Field who is comfortable working both in the shop and at customer sites. This role supports fabrication and is also the lead of on-site welding and installation work during customer projects, shutdowns, and system modifications. This position is ideal for a hands‑on leader who enjoys travel, problem‑solving, and direct customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities- Fabricate and weld equipment and structural components in the shop
- Perform on-site welding, fabrication, and modification work at customer facilities
- Lead customer site welding projects, coordinating work scope and sequencing
- Work alongside service technicians and installers during system installations and retrofits
- Interpret drawings and adapt fabrication solutions in the field as required
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to DeHart quality standards
- Communicate professionally with customers and project managers on‑site
- Maintain jobsite safety, cleanliness, and organization
- Travel as needed for customer projects, shutdowns, and installs
- 4+ years of welding and fabrication experience, including field or job site work
- Strong MIG and stick welding skills li>Ability to read and interpret fabrication and installation drawings
- Experience working independently and leading on‑site work
- Willingness and ability to travel as required
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
- Professional communication skills when working with customers
- Experience leading field fabrication or installation projects
- Experience with recycling equipment, balers, conveyors, or heavy industrial systems
- OSHA safety training or job site safety leadership experience
- Experience working in manufacturing plants or distribution centers
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in industrial environments, including elevated or confined spaces
- Ability to travel overnight as required for customer projects
