ResponsibilitiesPOSITION SUMMARY:
The Lift Mechanic is responsible for inspection, maintenance, and repair of components for all aerial tramways and conveyor and extensive knowledge and experience with the electrical aspects of aerial tramways and conveyors. This position works daily in the field with the mechanics performing daily inspection and start up and shut down procedures, training mechanics, trouble-shooting mechanical and electrical issues. This position must be able to read electrical schematics and have strong ability to troubleshoot and repair lift control systems, night ski lighting, and assist with electrical troubleshooting throughout Resort.
- Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot low voltage systems on all lifts and conveyors as well as general electrical needs throughout the resort.
- Performs pre-operational lift start-up inspection to ensure that each lift is ready to run each day.
- Performs annual maintenance and periodic inspections on lifts to ensure reliability and compliance with applicable standards.
- Inspect lift for hazards and potential hazards involving passengers, employees and machinery.
- Has working knowledge of and performs routine mechanical maintenance on lifts to maintain lifts to CPTSB, ANSI, lift manufacturer and insurance carrier standards.
- Assist with preparation of written response to annual CPTSB inspections and communicate with the CPTSB for all reportable incidents.
- Troubleshoots lift problems as they occur.
- Works closely with the Lift Operations Team to ensure the successful daily operation of Granby Ranch chairlifts and conveyors.
- Responsible for maintaining and operating mountain night lights.
- Operates shop equipment and power and hand tools both in the shop and on the mountain in the repair and maintenance of lifts.
- Advises the Lift Operations Manager of changing conditions or occurrences that may adversely affect the lift machinery and/or its passengers.
- Reports and/or corrects conditions which may negatively affect guest or employee safety.
- Follows all Granby Ranch policies and procedures, including protocol for emergency situations.
- Attend periodic safety meetings to increase safety awareness.
- Wears appropriate safety equipment.
- Assists with building and installing modifications to CPTSB, ANSI, lift manufacturer and insurance carrier standards.
- Assists with Lift Operations as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Can safely operate snowmobiles, 4-wheelers, and/or UTVs.
- Possesses basic knowledge and use of MS Office – Word, Excel, PDF, and daily use of Outlook and e-mail.
- Able to talk with others to convey information effectively.
- Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Actively looks for ways to help people.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in ski area lift maintenance is required.
- Experience with ski area lift and conveyor electrical systems preferred.
- Possesses strong knowledge of Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board (CPTSB), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and lift manufacturer guidelines.
- Demonstrates diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with ability to research issues utilizing industry contacts and experts.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Industry experience commensurate with position is required.
- Must be at least 25 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- This position requires work on weekends and holidays and some evenings during high volume times and night ski operations.
- This position works outdoors 90% of the time with a high exposure level to all types of weather conditions and temperatures, including cold temperatures in a high alpine environment, at an elevation above 8500 feet.
