The VA St. Louis Healthcare System (VASTLHCS) is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for the Facilities Engineering Service. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for general and preventive maintenance of the different engineering disciplines reflected in the trades Carpentry, Plumbing, Electric, and HVAC.
Major duties include, but are not limited to:
* Electrical
* Performs basic troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems
* Inspects, maintains, cleans, repairs, tests and adjusts electrical generators, commercial feeder systems, security light sets, light fixtures, fans, heating systems, appliances, thermostats, electrical equipment sed to chill/freeze/cool filter air.
* Carpentry/Locksmithing
* Maintains and services door closing devices and related hardware for buildings, furnishings, and equipment.
* Performs interior and exterior finish carpentry, partitions, windows, doors, frames, building hardware, wall and door covering products, acoustical work, exterior architectural trim.
* Plumbing/Pipe fitting
* Performs a variety of plumbing maintenance and repair work including work that involves removing, cleaning, replacing, packing, and sealing defective parts of utility, supply and disposal systems.
* Installs/repairs pressure producing valves, hot water heaters, and/or storage tanks, circulating pumps, drinking fountains, laundry tubs, dishwasher etc.
* Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
* Performs regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment systems that provide for heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, cleaning, filtering and circulating for different kinds of structures related to the medical center complex.
* Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment to trace and locate defects and malfunctions with various equipment/areas, making periodic inspections and necessary adjustments to controls and equipment.
* General Maintenance
* Performs work involving a variety of general repairs, maintenance, adjustments, modifications, inspections, and preventative maintenance.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
Promotion Potential:
This position is for WG-10. There is no promotion potential for this position.
Work Schedule:
Full-Time, Permanent - 12-hour Rotating shift
