Electrician

Position Summary

Under general direction from the Facilities Supervisor, responsible for troubleshooting and repairing electrical controls. Lays out and installs new electrical service including panels, breakers, disconnects, and switches.

• Installs and maintains various types of motors, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers and transformers.
• Assembles, installs, tests, and maintains electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, apparatus, and fixtures using hand and power tools.
• Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
• Installs and monitors performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments or replacements.
• Installs grounding leads.
• Interprets blueprints; works from sketches or verbal instructions.
• Lays out, assembles, installs, tests, repairs, and adjusts electrical fixtures, apparatus, equipment, wiring and new services to include panels, breakers, and conduit.
• Monitors motors, transformers, and lighting fixtures into position and completes circuits according to diagram specifications.
• Repairs, installs, replaces and tests electrical circuits, equipment and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
• Orders electrical supplies, maintains adequate stock to repair electrical problems.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
• Advise enterprise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
• Tests electrical system and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeter to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
• Plans layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
• Prepares sketches or follows blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure compliance with building and safety codes.
• Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
• Analyzes circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings to install, repair, calibrate, service or replace electronic devices and systems.
• Schedules repairs, installations and electrical inspections.
• Starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.
• Services electronic equipment by checking, testing, and replacing faulty components, circuits, printed circuit boards, and similar electronic devices.
• Installs, repairs, and maintains communication cables, power distribution cables, and splices pieces as required.
• Maintains accurate records of all work performed, inclusive of circuit numbers, wiring method, and location of any devices or splices.
• Notifies Supervisor/Manager of potentially dangerous electrical equipment noted and corrective action taken.
• May operate company vehicles or equipment as assigned.
• Performs other duties as required.

High School Diploma or equivalent, unless waived by Human Resources Management. Completion of an accredited four (4) year electrical apprenticeship program or an equivalent combination of vocational trade school, junior technical college, or on the job training is required. A valid California Driver’s License is required. Must be able to successfully pass a pre‑employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license.

• Knowledge of the methods and practices used in electrical work.
• Knowledge of electrical systems including planning additions or modification on secondary circuits.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety practices.
• Skill in the safe operation of power tools and shop equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
• Ability to isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment.
• Ability to install and maintain motors, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers and transformers.
• Ability to install grounding leads.
• Ability to read commercial electrical blueprints and apply NEC through the full range of commercial and industrial maintenance and construction work.
• Ability to install and maintain welding equipment, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers and transformers.
