This position will have an official domicile at the South Central Correctional Center in Licking, MO. It requires extensive travel statewide to assist with staffing needs in DAI facilities across Missouri. The annual salary is $45,555.60, based on a normal 40‑hour workweek. The position is also eligible for retention/longevity pay, shift differential and overtime pay per departmental policy.

Work schedule:

Monday through Friday, 12pm (noon) to 12am (midnight). Officers must report to the South Central Correctional Center by noon each Monday and return by approximately midnight on Friday.

While on assignment, officers will receive a state vehicle, provided lodging, and meal reimbursements. They must carpool in the state vehicle and may share accommodations while traveling.

Candidates will maintain security in adult correctional institutions, intervene during emergencies or altercations, and gain physical control of offenders. Duties include supervising offender movements, conducting counts, searching offenders and their living quarters for contraband, escorting offenders to predetermined locations, supervising housing units, work activities, recreational/religious activities, and visits, as well as searching visitors/offenders/buildings for contraband. Officers will conduct inspections for health and safety hazards, submit reports on violations, discuss minor adjustment problems, refer serious issues to proper staff, and promote rehabilitation by influencing offenders’ social attitudes.

Officers may be assigned related work as needed.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

• Pass a background investigation administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.
• Complete Defensive Tactics and Standard First Aid/CPR training during Basic Training administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.

• Complete and maintain firearms certification training administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.
• Possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.

• A $2.00 per hour shift differential if assigned to a shift between 12:00pm and 5:00am at a 24/7 congregate care facility.
• A $0.75 per hour maximum security stipend if working full-time at a qualifying facility.
• A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend if assigned a regular post within a restricted housing/segregation unit.

The Department of Corrections offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years. Promotion from within is strongly encouraged. All requested documents must be received by the closing date listed.
