Summary
Maintains a safe, supportive learning environment through proactive campus security and routine electrical maintenance. Ensures visibility, prevention, and de‑escalation while performing minor electrical repairs and supporting facility reliability.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor entrances/exits; manage visitor sign-in, , and access control
- Conduct routine patrols of buildings, grounds, and parking areas; observe and report hazards or suspicious activity
- Respond to incidents, alarms, and emergencies; coordinate with administrators and first responders
- Operate radios, cameras, and security systems; maintain incident logs and reports
- Assist with safety drills (fire, lockdown, evacuation) and emergency preparedness
- Perform general electrical tasks: replace switches/outlets, light fixtures/ballasts, bulbs/lamps, and fuses; reset breakers; basic troubleshooting of circuits and electrical devices
- Support preventative maintenance: inspect panels, outlets, and wiring for wear; document findings and schedule repairs
- Collaborate with facilities team; elevate complex electrical issues to licensed contractors as needed
- Maintain compliance with safety codes, lockout/tagout, and school policies; protect confidentiality (FERPA awareness)
- Provide event security and arrival/dismissal support
- High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in security, criminal justice, facilities, or electrical trade preferred
- 1+ year experience in security/public safety; experience with basic electrical maintenance in commercial or institutional settings
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or obtain within 60 days)
- Familiarity with NFPA safety practices and basic electrical codes
- Preferred:
Electrical certification (e.g., journeyman/apprentice card or equivalent) or completion of recognized electrical training program - Strong communication, situational awareness, and problem-solving under pressure
- Ability to use radios, access control, CCTV, and basic CMMS/work order systems
- Must pass background check and required clearances
- Professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
- De‑escalation, conflict resolution, and customer service
- Technical aptitude, safety mindset, and attention to detail
- Clear documentation and teamwork
- Stand/walk for extended periods; climb ladders; occasional lifting up to 30–50 lbs
- Indoor/outdoor work in varying weather; rotating shifts, evenings, or events as needed
- Use of hand/power tools with appropriate PPE
- Full-time or part-time; schedule determined by school administration
