Job Summary

Provides a reasonably safe and secure environment by providing security services for the staff, patients, visitors, and premises as well as first responders to urgent facility matters.

Responsibilities
  • Protect property and staff by conducting interior and exterior rounds, observing for safety and security issues, theft, and monitoring parking lots.
  • Promote visitor and employee safety by door checks, detecting lighting deficiencies, ensuring proper operation of elevators, assisting disruptive individuals, patient restraints, and escorting staff and clients when requested.
  • Respond to overhead pages or assistance requests, escort emergency personnel, and provide post‑mortem services.
  • Provide professional customer service during complex situations; use a proactive approach to identify hazards by communicating with clinical staff.
  • Observe and report security concerns, complete incident reports and shift logs, and forward them to appropriate individuals.
  • Assist with maintenance: alarm testing, life‑safety equipment, AEDs, oxygen tanks, fire extinguishers, access control, badging, door‑integrity checks, etc.
  • Enforce organization policies and procedures.
  • Monitor, review, and investigate incidents using the video management system.
  • May operate motor vehicle to patrol.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
  • Upon conditional offer completion of a psychological assessment to confirm suitability.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant use of hearing for oral communication and alarms.
  • Constant use of vision for near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more).
  • Constant lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling of objects weighing 0–25 lbs.
  • Frequent use of speech for oral communication.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling of objects weighing 25–50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, twisting, and walking.
  • Frequent use of vision to judge distances and color identification.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, reaching, gripping, repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling of objects weighing over 50 lbs.
  • Occasional keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Occasional driving.
  • Rare crawling, running, and lifting/moving patients.
