This position will be located at the St. Louis Regional Office at 1390 Timberlake Manor Parkway, 2nd Floor, Chesterfield, MO 63017
.
- Inspect and investigate sources of hazardous waste generation and air emissions to protect the public and environment and ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations.
- Provide compliance assistance to facilities subject to RCRA and CAA.
- Investigate citizen complaints related to improper/illegal disposal of oil and hazardous materials, open burning, odor violations, and fugitive air emissions.
- Write detailed inspection reports.
- Document violations and prepare cases for enforcement action.
- Recommend solutions to a range of different environmental problems.
- Provide technical assistance to businesses, government officials, and the public.
- Work independently in a team environment.
- Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
- Audit Reporting: knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques used to report audit findings (criteria, condition, cause, effect, and recommendation).
- Compliance: knowledge of procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and guidance.
- Hazardous Materials: knowledge of hazardous materials and waste and their uses, interactions, dangers, production, handling, storage, and disposal.
- Bachelor’s degree in science or technology, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Physical Science, Geology, Engineering, Agronomy, Forestry, Soil Science, Ecology, Wildlife Management, Agriculture, Animal Science, Natural Resource Management, Soil Conservation, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, or a closely related field from an accredited college, and 0 - 4 or more years of relevant experience.
