Kinsa is recruiting for a: R&D Product Manager Lead
Location:
Sonoma, CA Area (Not a remote or hybrid position)
Our client, a producer of premium frozen dessert products, is looking for an R&D Product Manager Lead to add to their team. In this role you serves as the sole R&D authority for this product line. This is a hands‑on, highly accountable role requiring strong technical expertise, project management capability, and the ability to independently drive initiatives from concept through commercial launch.
Successful candidates MUST HAVE experience in a food processing plant environment (and/or other singular qualifier under Competencies/Culture below).
- Compensation: 130‑145k

- Lead end-to-end management of new product development initiatives
- Ensure formulations are scalable and optimized for commercial production equipment, including depositors, ovens, and related bakery systems
- Create and maintain accurate product specifications, technical records, and documentation for each project
- Partner with Operations, Sales, and other necessary stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution
- Develop and maintain internal best practices, formulation libraries, and technical SOPs
- Meetings with leadership, production management, customers, and any other pertinent stakeholders to ensure understanding of current projects for timely movement of products to commercialization
- Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Food Science or related technical field
- 5+ years of product development experience in a food processing environment
- Scale‑up, plant trials and commercialization experience
- Strong understanding of ingredient functionality and dough products
- Experience managing multiple projects
- HACCP certification
- Ability to travel once a month to other facility
