The Membership Specialist (MS) represents UFC GYM by providing a welcoming, informative, and entertaining experience for all members and guests during their visits. This full‑time role reports directly to the Assistant General Manager & the General Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Lead Generation & Appointment Booking
External marketing, promotions, and prospecting, including distributing passes and building relationships with local merchants and community events. - Internal marketing and prospecting at the point of enrollment and from the current member base through referral tables.
- Book membership appointments through productive phone activities and meet or exceed monthly appointment goals.
- Guest Touring, Membership Presentations, & Personal Production
Ensure 100% of guests receive the “Fitness Tour” and enroll half of the guests (50% Closing) and 25% enroll with Personal Training. - Use the company approved presentation when presenting membership options to non‑members and ensure each new member meets a manager before completing the sales process.
- Ensure Personal Sales Room Financial goals are met or exceeded each month for New Member Sales Revenue (NMS), Point of Sales Personal Training Revenue (POS PT), and New Electronic Funds Transfer Sets (EFT).
- Write 30 New Membership Units (NMU’s) and 6 PT Units each month after the probation period (First 3 months).
- Accountable for meeting or exceeding required sales behaviors that lead to Key Metrics set by management.
- Attach supporting documents and signatures (corporate approved specials, discounts, etc.) with each agreement.
- Follow up with members that have enrolled to ensure we are exceeding expectations.
- Provide the highest level of customer service possible when communicating and interacting with guests.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and operational facility.
- Accountable for saving members that are requesting to cancel their membership; if unsatisfied, manager must sign off on cancellation.
- Sales Schedule
:
Schedules are set a month in advance and given during the first week of each month and approved by the General Manager. All Membership Specialists must be available to work Weekends and Holidays. Requests for days off must be in writing and can be approved by the General Manager. - Mandatory Meetings
:
Monthly “All Team Meeting” and “Daily Production Meetings” are mandatory. - Uniform Policy
: UFC Gym Black Polo, Long Dress Slacks (Black, Blue or Khaki) or Jeans (Blue or Black) in good condition. Dress shoes or casual dress shoes must be worn in good condition. No athletic shoes, hoodies, sweatshirts, hats or headwear. - Timekeeping
:
Record time worked using the company check‑in system. Punch out for lunch within 5 hours; no off‑clock work. Fill out adjustment form if missed punch. - Organization Relationships
:
Interact with club staff (Operations, Fitness, Membership Team), communicate with members, guests, and vendors to support club sales. No direct reports.
- In‑depth knowledge of sales practices and techniques.
- General understanding of the Fitness Industry.
- Computer skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
- Independent, self‑starter with strong organizational skills.
- Team player.
- Adhere to meal and rest break periods; clock in/out for all shift times.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must complete company sales training and orientation program.
- Preferred: 1‑2 years sales experience.
- Physical requirements:
lift 45 lbs., frequent sitting, standing, walking, stair climbing, demonstrate proper fitness techniques.
