Our Ingersoll Rand’s Compression Systems and Services Customer Center is hiring a General Line Account Manager to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the Customer Center equipment sales and service activity for a specific territory. Traveling in a defined geographic area, this includes quoting, strategizing, prospecting, and developing relationships to achieve revenue targets, maximize profits, increase market share and maintain customer loyalty while achieving organizational goals.
The position is a unique blend of supporting a major distributor and selling direct to customers.
- Generate Revenue – responsible for generating sales of equipment, service contracts, and service offerings with direct end users and partners within a defined customer base and geographic area. Develop existing customer base and secure new competitive accounts. Provide and design compressed air solutions to fulfill industrial customer needs. Achieve all assigned sales targets.
- Develop People Capabilities – provide selling skills and product/service training for dealer sales personnel and customer center staff. Partner with services team to understand products and customer needs.
- Manage Cash – ensure all orders are error‑free, resolve customer disputes, and manage costs associated with selling efforts, including travel and entertainment.
- Ensure adherence to safety rules (vehicle safety and customer site safety) in the field and the customer center.
- Earn Customer loyalty – collaborate cross‑functionally and partner with the service team to troubleshoot customer issues or offer unique solutions.
- Maintain Customer Relationship Management database – record interactions, agreements, contacts, opportunities, order follow‑ups, and report requirements. Provide feedback on market conditions and drive/tracking sales pipeline.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 4+ years of experience in an industrial sales business setting
- Excellent relationship‑building and interpersonal skills, including verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
- Establishes and builds solid relationships with customers, key institutions and team members.
- Honest, self‑motivated and team oriented.
- Able to work within a team environment and independently.
- Mechanical and electrical expertise required.
- Ability to assess customer needs, analyze and interpret, perform basic equipment performance calculations, and recommend technical solutions.
- Tech savvy; knowledge of Salesforce preferred.
- Proven business and sales acumen, including prospecting accounts, navigating customer organizations, value selling and winning competitive accounts.
- Excellent prioritization and time management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, business or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Salesforce.
- Regional travel to customer sites is required within assigned geographic territory.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations.
