The Patient Care Specialist (Budtender) provides an exceptional, knowledgeable, and welcoming experience for both recreational customers and registered medical patients. This role is responsible for guiding guests through product selection, ensuring compliance with Missouri cannabis regulations, and supporting daily retail operations.
The ideal candidate combines hospitality, sales confidence, regulatory awareness, and a genuine interest in cannabis education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESGuest Experience & SalesGreet all customers with professionalism and warmth.
Build rapport and provide individualized product guidance based on customer needs and preferences.
Educate customers on product types, consumption methods, potency, and responsible use.
Introduce first‑time guests to the dispensary process.
Inform guests of current promotions, loyalty programs, and upcoming events.
Encourage app and SMS sign‑ups.
Maintain established sales and performance goals.
Handle transactions accurately and in accordance with company policies.
Compliance & VerificationVerify government‑issued IDs and medical certifications as required.
Complete customer check‑in procedures in accordance with Missouri regulations.
Maintain strict adherence to state‑mandated distribution and tracking procedures (including METRC compliance).
Protect customer confidentiality at all times.
Operations & InventoryAssist with receiving, counting, labeling, and stocking inventory, including items requiring special handling or refrigeration.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional retail environment.
Complete opening and closing checklists as assigned.
Support management with operational and clerical tasks as needed.
Product Knowledge & Professional DevelopmentContinuously expand knowledge of cannabis products, strains, cannabinoids, terpenes, and consumption methods.
Provide recommendations in alignment with company training.
Stay current on Missouri cannabis laws and company policies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or GED required.
1–3 years of retail, hospitality, healthcare, or customer service experience preferred.
Sales experience strongly preferred.
Cannabis industry experience is a plus but not required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail‑oriented with ability to follow regulated procedures.
Friendly, dependable, and team‑oriented.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must pass required background screening per Missouri cannabis regulations.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Missouri Agent .
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Occasional bending, stooping, and stocking of shelves.
Ability to operate POS systems and standard office equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENTThis position operates in a fast‑paced retail cannabis environment. Employees interact directly with customers and use POS systems, inventory software, and compliance tracking systems daily.
