A leading fashion retailer is seeking a Freelance Assistant Merchant to support seasonal buying, assortment planning, and product execution.

• Support department goals to achieve seasonal sales and margin targets
• Assist with market analysis and identifying business opportunities and risks
• Support product assortment selection using trend data and customer insights
• Create and maintain accurate assortment sheets, buy plans, and updates
• Manage purchase order creation and change management
• Reconcile monthly receipts and contribute to Open-to-Buy meetings
• Partner cross‑functionally with Merchandising, Planning, Allocation, Visual, Design, and Product Development teams
• Prepare meeting materials and organize web samples for timely turn‑ins
• Support sales tools, business recaps, and reporting
• Review live website product activations for accuracy and timely launches
• Monitor customer reviews and share insights with merchant teams
• Support additional tasks as needed

• 1+ year of experience as an Assistant Merchant or in a related retail/merchandising role
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills
• Advanced Excel skills and solid knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Team‑oriented, proactive, and adaptable
